Fall Family Pictures 2014

Our new friend Julie Miller offered to take family pictures for us this fall. We went to Shevlin park on a very cold afternoon.  We can't believe how much our family has grown. The last time I blogged we only had two kids!

2010 Garden

This gardening season started off with a wet and cold spring which made it hard to get plants started. After replanting several times and fighting slugs with egg shells and midnight slug hunts, the garden is beginning to grow! This year we have the following vegetables planted:
  • potatoes
  • celery
  • pole beans
  • acorn squash
  • patty pan squash
  • delicata squash
  • yellow crook neck
  • cabbage
  • lemon cucumbers
  • burp less cucumbers
  • onions
  • egg plant
  • tomatoes
  • bell peppers
  • Swiss chard
  • kale
  • lettuce
  • carrots
  • peas
  • strawberries
  • corn

It has been fun learning a bit more about the garden each year. This year I am using cottonseed meal, lime, dolomite, bone meal and fish emulsion to fertilize the garden. Even though it got off to a slow start this year it seems much healthier than last year. Anyone can garden so get dirty.

Berry Picking

The month of July in Clark County is berry picking season! We found a farm 10 minutes from our house with u-pick organic blues and raspberries. We rested Rose under a nice shady bush as we picked. Samantha ate at least 5 berries for every 1 that she put in the bucket.

The Sisters

Samantha is getting use to having a little sister around and is having fun hugging, holding and playing with her. We took Rose the coast for her first road trip.

Samantha holds Rose Morgan

We came home from the hospital Sunday morning and have been resting ever since. Samantha seems to be adjusting well. Rose is doing great and eating a ton. We decided on Morgan for her middle name. Here is a video of Samantha holding Rose. I can already tell that she is going to be a good big sister.

Introducing Rose Parla!

It all started at midnight on March 26th when Heather said "I think I am having contractions." After I timed the contractions at five minutes apart we called the midwife, took showers, packed up some snacks, then drove away. We arrived at the hospital at 1:30 AM. Heather did amazing laboring with no drugs in the pool. After two pushes, Rose was born at 4:10 AM. She was covered in white vernix, it was crazy and amazing! Rose weighed 7 lbs, 14 oz., was 20 1/2 inches long and was really alert when she was born!

As the sun began to rise Friday morning I caught some Z's with my new beautiful daughter!

Later that morning Samantha met Rose for the first time. She was excited to meet her but even more excited to drink milk and eat snacks from the nourishment room.

We still haven't decided on a middle name yet but we have some ideas: Selah (pause, reflect) Anastasia (ressurection) Morgan (bright light) and Evangelina (messenger of goodness).

Stay posted for more!

Big Girl Samantha

We are getting ready for the new baby to come (5 weeks till our due date) and trying to get Samanantha through a few transitions before then. So far we have transitioned her from her crib to toddler bed and now we need to wean her from her pacifier and hopefully get her potty trained (maybe wishful thinking).

It's A ?

35 weeks pregnant

20 week ultrasound

24 weeks pregnant

As many of you may know heather is prego with baby #2! We had the twenty week ultrasound and doc said everything looks good. We are now 24 weeks along and our due date is March 24th. We opted not to find out if it is a boy or girl since we are pros at having babies now , and we wanted to have some surprise. But heather and many other people feel like it is a he. Let us know if you got any good names besides Barack ;-)
